  1. A raccoon is any of several New World species 
  2. of carnivorous mammals of the genus Procyon, 
  3. in the family Procyonidae. The common raccoon 
  4. Procyon lotor is about 60cm (2ft) long, with 
  5. a gray-brown body, a black-and-white ringed 
  6. tail, and a black `mask' around its eyes.
